One of my favorite apps is Grab. Apart from the convenience, I love how friendly the delivery riders are. I’ve had packages delivered from Quezon City, Mandaluyong, even Malabon, and they all arrived down south with a warm greeting and virtually zero complaints.
Delivery riders truly are heroes during the pandemic: as we stay comfortable indoors, they brave traffic, heat, rain, and long distances just to make sure we get our food, groceries, and packages. To thank all that they do, Grab gave a few of them surprise deliveries from GrabMart. As expected, it’s touching and emotional.
Here’s what happened:
In the video, the riders think they’re just doing the usual deliveries. They pick up stuff at the grocery and make their way to their destination. As they arrive at the drop-off point, they see a huge green box with their name. The box is filled with products from Nestlé, PepsiCo, Robinsons Supermarket, Unilever, Eden, and Bioflu. And everything is for them.
“Ka-Grab, saludo kami sayo. Salamat sa pagsisikap, dedikasyon, at di matatawarang serbisyo sa paghatid ng mga orders. Bilang munting pasasalamat, regalo namin sayo ang GrabMart order na ito, kasama rin ang laman ng kahon. Nawa’y makatulong ito sayo at sa iyong pamilya,” a letter says.
I got teary-eyed watching the delivery riders get emotional when they find out that the box and its contents are for them. It’s a fitting gesture for all that they do and go through, day in and day out, to make sure we get what we need. So if you’re booking a Grab (or any delivery service), make sure to be patient and kind with them. If you have the means, give them a tip or offer them water or snacks. There are so many things that are out of their control: traffic, the number of people in a restaurant or a grocery store, checkpoints.
Soon, GrabMart will be offering Groceries For Your Rider. As the name suggests, you can purchase groceries from participating stores for your rider. It’s a small way to thank them for all that they do for us. And they deserve it.
