This Website Allows You to Buy From Your Favorite MSMEs Online

I can’t remember the last time I went out. I’ve been home for most of the quarantine since March and I’ve relied on deliveries, pasabuy, and online sellers for food and necessities. While I do miss going out, I’ve realized that you can actually sustain yourself while staying at home. After all, there are services now that allow you to buy from your favorite groceries. There are apps that let you deliver food from top and nearby restaurants.

There’s a new player in the market as the Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. (AFFI) spearheaded a campaign called BUYanihan. It invites micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME’s) to sell their products on one platform. It boosts MSMEs’ commercial viability by invoking the ancient Filipino tradition of helping one another.

On the website, you can buy all sorts of products from food to drinks, meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and even household cleaning products.

Below are some of my favorites:

Food and Drinks

Plan your meals with BUYanihan’s products. Coldlayers Cafe has ready to eat dishes like Korean beef stew, garlic beef tapa, and chicken cordon bleu. Another worth checking out is crispy ulo from Papapings. For snacks, you can choose between sausages from Chophouse or popcorn and other products from Taters. One of BUYanihan’s vendors is Healthy Tropics, which has lagundi leaf tea, mango moringa juice, and more.

Meat and Seafood

If you want to cook your own meals, BUYanihan still has your back. You can buy beef ribeye from Quality Frozen Meat Solution. If you’re plant-based, you can try the vegetable protein product or the soy fiber protein from Vegetari Healthy Bites. For seafood, the blue marlin from Quality Frozen Meat Solution sounds promising.

Household Cleaning and Personal Products

BUYanihan has a lot of natural cleaning products, such as milk and oatmeal soap and extra virgin coconut oil lotion from Gogococo. For cleaning products, there’s pet soap, liquid detergent, surface cleanser, and more from NIQ.

One of the country’s leading integrated marketing communication groups, DDB Group Philippines, provided creative and communication expertise in this initiative from its conceptualization and planning to its execution and launch.

DDB Group Philippines Chairman & CEO Gil G. Chua said that the group, its PR solutions company Ripple8, digital agency Tribal Worldwide Phils., and content firm Bent & Buzz, are glad to be part of the BUYanihan campaign, providing their talents pro bono.

This message of hope is reflected in one of the highlights of the campaign – the Pwede Pang Mangarap music video with a performance by Gary Valenciano. The song lyrics were written by DDB/Bent & Buzz’s Kats Pador. Like DDB and Unitel, Manila Genesis Entertainment & Management provided Valenciano’s performance for free.

Under the leadership of AFFI, the BUYanihan campaign is supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and is in cooperation with the Philippine Marketing Association and the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA). Various stakeholders have joined BUYanihan as well.
