Celebrate Oktoberfest with the German Club Manila in Solaire

I don’t usually drink beer but the festive spirit of Oktoberfest is so catchy that I always find myself drinking bottles of the stuff. This year is going to be another special run as the German Club is partnering with Solaire for the much-awaited and most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Manila. The event will be happening on October 17 to 19 at The Tent at Solaire, where guests can have their fill of delicious German dishes and beers.

I got an early taste of what to expect when Solaire transformed The Forum to vividly resemble the look and feel of Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, Germany.

We got to try German dishes like cold cuts and cheese, oven-fresh bread and pretzels, and two types of salads for our appetizer. For the main course, we tried Bavarian delicacies such as sausages, pork schnitzel, Swabian red bratwurst, Kaesekrainer, and veal sausages. I wasn’t able to stay for dessert because I had an appointment, but I heard they had apple and walnut strudel with vanilla sauce and ice cream, and Kaiserschmarn, a dish made of shredded rum raisin pancakes with berry compote and vanilla sauce.

To make the celebration more exciting, the organizers encouraged us to do the Fliegerlied, an Oktoberfest classic that brings the crowd on their feet and to the dancefloor. There were beer drinking games and food relays. And of course, overflowing beers.

If you want to experience this kind of fun, make sure to book your seat at this year’s Oktoberfest at Solaire!
