We live in a time where we rely heavily on digital. We use apps to book a ride, have groceries delivered, and even find us a date. For sure, technology has given us a lot of advantages (especially if you’re lazy). Companies continuously use technology to drive positive change, and a good example is AWS Hackdays 2019.
AWS Hackdays 2019 is an annual education and hackathon event hosted by Amazon.com’s Amazon Web Services Inc. It encourages Southeast Asian developers to create good using AWS technologies. For this year’s run, the event will be conducted online across six countries, including the Philippines.
In the event, participants must create cloud-based solutions in the HealthTech, AgriTech, Smart City, and FinTech industries. They can showcase their skills in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, or Modern Applications using AWS services. The services available include the Amazon Sagemaker for Machine Learning (ML) models; the Amazon Polly to build speech-enabled applications; and the Amazon Lex to build chatbots. Participants may also use AWS IOT services, AWS Data Analytics, and Modern Applications such as Serverless Technologies, Microservices, and Continuous integration and Continuous deliver (CI/CD).
For the first time, the AWS Hackdays will have an online platform, where participants can submit their entries. Five teams from each country will join the national Demo Days, where they can pitch their final projects to a panel of AWS and expert judges. The winning teams will represent their country in the AWS Hackdays 2019 Grand Finale in Singapore on April 10, 2019. In turn, the winner of the grand finale will receive a paid trip (including airfare, accommodation, and re:Invent tickets) to AWS re:Invent 2019 in Las Vegas, the world’s leading learning conference for the global cloud community.
The deadline for submitting the deliverables for the online hackathon in the Philippines is on March 10, 2019.
