Technology has changed the way we view movies with novelties like streaming, 3D, 4D, and IMAX. Suddenly, it wasn’t enough to consume content the regular way. We had to be part of the action. Now, there’s another innovation that’s set to shake up the film industry: IMAX with laser.
IMAX with laser has been around since 2015 but it recently entered Southeast Asia, with its first screen in the Philippines at the Evia Lifestyle Center Mall in Las Piñas City.
As part of the technology, viewers can enjoy an immersive cinematic experience with its next-generation 4K laser projection system, a new optical engine, and a suite of propriety IMAX technologies. The results are increased resolution, sharper and brighter images, deeper contrast, and incredible colors. As for the sounds, you can hear the drop of a pin.
I got to try it out with a screening of the IMAX original film Pandas, a documentary narrated by Kirsten Bell about the conservation efforts for the giant panda in China. The images were crisp, the colors were more vibrant, and the sound was vivid. It almost takes you to the lush forests of the panda base in Chengdu.
The IMAX with laser theater in Evia Lifestyle Center has a massive screen measuring 24 meters by 13 meters, which definitely puts you in the action. The theater is dark when the lights go off, so you can really immerse yourself in the movie. There are 361 seats so you won’t have a hard time booking a seat during high-profile films! Each ticket costs P650 and comes with any snacks and a drink.
This story is in partnership with Vista Malls. IMAX with Laser is at 4/F Evia Lifestyle Center, Daang Hari Road, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas. For more information, visit the website or follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
