Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House was released just two days ago and it already has rave reviews. The series has 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the website saying that it “is an effective ghost story whose steadily mounting anticipation is just as satisfying as its chilling payoff.” I already want to see it but I heard it’s scary so I’m waiting for the time when I can watch it during the daytime.
If you’re not familiar, The Haunting of Hill House is a modern reimagining of Shirley Jackson’s iconic novel, originally published in 1959 and considered as one of the best literary ghost stories published during the 20th century. It tells the story of a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past, whether it’s in their minds or in the shadows of Hill House.
