Here’s Your Easy Guide to the UNIQLO Fall/Winter 2018 Collection!

The Philippines may only have two seasons, but the latter part of the year brings cooler air, overcast skies, and a buzzing excitement for Christmas. When it comes to style, it becomes time to replace the short shorts and the tropical prints for layers and darker colors. I love this time of year so it’s no surprise that my uniform is made up of “fall” colors like black, white, gray, and blue!

For this year’s Fall/Winter collection, UNIQLO is keeping its promise to reinvent basics as the future of LifeWear, a clothing line designed to make everyday life better and more comfortable. This season, the brand is emphasizing color, taking inspiration from the great outdoors, natural materials, and the vivid colors of art. Silhouette is also a highlight, with flattering shapes for every style, whether it’s oversized or structured.

There’s something new for everybody so here’s your guide to the UNIQLO Fall/Winter 2018 collection to make shopping so much easier!

The UNIQLO U collection, led by French designer Christophe Lemaire, features pieces in brilliant reds and fuchsias in rich and warm accents. It feels like it belongs in a Wes Anderson film, and will bring a pop color reminiscent of fall to your wardrobe.

HEATTECH is a godsend, especially if you’re traveling during winter. This technology, developed in partnership with Toray Industries of Japan, helps absorb moisture from the body to generate heat, while air pockets in the fabric fibers retain heat.

The line is now thinner, lighter, smoother, and warmer. There are three sub-lines, depending on the temperature of the country you’re visiting. There’s the regular HEATTECH; the HEATTECH Extra Warm, which is 1.5 times warmer; and the HEATTECH Ultra Warm, which is 2.5 times warmer.

I was extremely grateful for this because I visited Seoul last November, which had temperatures in the negative. I haven’t experienced winter since I was a kid living in Japan, so I didn’t know what to expect. I got the HEATTECH Extra Warm and I could tell it worked because my bottom half was frozen and I felt like my hands were going to get cut off (I didn’t get gloves).

UNIQLO’s HEATTECH has long- and short-sleeved shirts, camisoles, leggings and shorts, bra tops, and socks in different colors.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, UNIQLO’s AIRism line helps you stay cool with its breathable, smooth, and lightweight innerwear. The new lineup has Jersey for daily use, Mesh for active days, and Seamless for formal looks. It’s the perfect fabric for the Philippines because it releases heat and moisture to give the best comfort.

Ultra Light Down

For chilly trips that don’t require a full-on jacket, UNIQLO’s Ultra Light Down is perfect. The new Ultra Light Down compact vests, seamless parkas, and jackets with two-way collars are super warm, thin, and light.

Seamless Down

The Seamless Down collection features parkas, coats, and short coats to help keep you snug. Its water-repellent fabric and seamless design offer double protection against rain and snow while still being light.

UNIQLO’s Blocktech collection is also water-repellent, and keeps out the rain, snow, and wind. The best part? The fabric is breathable so it keeps sweat at bay and keeps you comfortable!

The Fleece collection keeps you warm and comfortable during the colder months. It’s also an easy fabric to maintain because it’s easy to wash and dries fast. The brand’s Fleece collection has outerwear, t-shirts, sweaters, and hoodies in different colors. UNIQLO’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection has Fleece Crew Neck T-Shirts, Fluffy Yarn Fleece outerwear, boa fleeces, and a Windproof Pile-Lined Fleece Long Sleeve hoodie.

The knits in this collection are made from premium lambs’ wool, which makes it warmer and smoother than regular lambs’ wool. There’s also the 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool, which is just as comfortable. If you’re worried about how fragile the material is, all the pieces resist pilling, are machine washable, and keep their shape for longer wear.

You can also check out the 100% cashmere items!

Jeans & EZY Jeans

UNIQLO collaborated with one of the world’s top denim makers for a line of EZY jeans that has the look of denim but the comfort of sweatpants. There are EZY Skinny Fit Color Jeans in different colors, so there’s something for everyone. It comes in a stretch fabric and an elastic waist, so you can eat as much as you want and not have to worry about unbuttoning them.

If you’re the type of guy who likes the lived-in look of denim, UNIQLO’s jeans have them!

EZY Ankle Pants

I’m currently obsessed with UNIQLO’s EZY Ankle Pants. Its slim and tapered silhouette is an upgrade from casual jeans, but it can be dressed up or down depending on your need. It has an elastic waist and stretch material for comfort any time of the day!

UNIQLO’s ankle length pants come in a new cotton material with anti-microbial and anti-odor properties, but it also comes in a DRY-EX Ultra Stretch and wool-like fabrics.

Kids & Babies

Kids and babies can also get into UNIQLO gear with Light Warm Padded outerwear and Ultra Stretch Ankle Pants!

For UNIQLO’s graphic t-shirt brand, the new collections are Mickey Blue, Love & Mickey Mouse Collection by Kate Moross, The Game by Namco Museum, The Game by Space Invaders, Studio Sanderson, Boston Katagami, and SPRZ NY featuring works by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
