One of the best things about traveling abroad is experiencing public transport. The trains in other countries are so impressive, and we can soon experience that because the Philippines is set to have its first three Metro subway trains by May 2022!
The subway is set to run 30 kilometers with 14 stations from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. There’s also the possibility of adding one or two more stations in the future.
According to Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III, the first three stations will be in Mindanao Avenue-Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora, and North Avenue. The entire line will be up and running by 2025, including the commercial spaces that will help defray the cost of operations.
Dominguez adds that there are plans to extend the line up in the north in Bulacan and up to the south in Cavite.
Construction of the line will use the best technology, including flood management features, the best seismic technology available, and tunnel boring equipment to hasten construction. The government aims to get the project done at the soonest possible time.
