Albay LGU to Help Farmers Affected by Mayon Eruptions

After the eruption of Mayon Volcano that affected 20,477 families or 79,757 individuals, the Albay local government has vowed to help local farmers as soon as the volcano settles.

Jun Pavericio, chief of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Guinobatan, Albay, told 24 Oras, “Magbibigay kami ng mga farm implements tapos mga binhi, para mapalitan ‘yung mga nasira nilang pananim dito sa aming area.”

The Department of Agriculture (DA) revealed that P165.54 million worth of damage to crops, with a total of 8,138 hectares affected.

To date, the Mayon Volcano remains at Alert Level 4, which means that a hazardous eruption is still a possibility.
