There’s nothing as good as a classic and this applies to doughnuts, too. Bakeries and brands can come up with as many flavor combinations as they want but nothing can compare to Krispy Kreme’s pillowy-soft and warm Original Glazed. And if you think it can’t get any better, they released the Original Glazed doughnut in chocolate!
Earlier this month, Krispy Kreme launched the limited edition chocolate version of its flagship product, along with the Chocolate Glazed with Sprinkles for that added crunch and the Double Chocolate Cake for those addicted to sweets (namely me). It may look like it’s too sweet, but it keeps the best parts of the Original Glazed with a creamy and chocolatey bonus.
To welcome its latest variants, Krispy Kreme invited me to the Krispy Kreme Quiz Day where we were tested on our knowledge on chocolate. I was teamed with my friends from WheninManila.com and we joined games like the quiz show Certified Chocoholics Q&A; the doughnut memory game Remember Me, Chocolate; the creative Choco Charades; and the guessing games Doughnut Tower and the Chocolate Doughnut Wall, where we had to guess how many doughnuts were in a tower and to pick a doughnut with a corresponding effect on our score.
Out of the five teams who joined, we placed fifth but I had fun bonding with my friends and participating. I think we were the rowdiest during the afternoon, and none of us had any sugar rush.
We also got to tour the factory, where we got to see how the Chocolate Glazed doughnuts were made. The glaze curtains of their doughnut machines were turned into chocolate curtains and I had to stop myself from turning it into a fondue.
You can try Krispy Kreme’s Chocolate Glazed doughnuts for free when the Hot Light turns on at factory stores in Bonifacio High Street, Evia Lifestyle Center, Greenhills Shopping Center, IT Park Cebu, Limketkai Center Cagayan de Oro, SM Bacolod, SM Baguio, SM Ecoland Davao, and SM Mall of Asia from 6-7PM daily. If you can’t be there when the Hot Light turns on, you can try the new doughnuts for P48 each or P430 for a dozen.
