It’s already September and while I’m writing this in my room past 6PM, I’m actually sweating. I just got out of the shower, the windows are open, and the fan is facing me, but I can feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead and my chest. Whoever said that summer-oriented drinks would be out of place during the -ber months probably hasn’t experienced the heat pressing down on the city.
It’s okay. I’d rather sweat than deal with torrential rain and besides, I’ve found a new remedy: Starbucks just launched two new Teavana variants and it comes in frozen format! The new frozen teas are the Chamomile Tea with Kyoho Grape and Aloe, and the Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls.
The Starbucks Teavana Frozen Chamomile Tea with Kyoho Grape and Aloe is an interesting mix as it combines chamomile tea with honeyed white grapes and aloe cubes. Kyoho grapes are known for their large and juicy flesh, as well as their distinctive sweetness, but the chamomile tea balances what could be an impending sugar rush.
The Starbucks Teavana Frozen Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls is the frozen version of the popular Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls. The refreshing drink is a combination of the floral notes of hibiscus flowers and rose petals, papaya and mango flavors, and a hint of cinnamon and lemongrass. While the iced shaken version has the pomegranate pearls mixed in, the frozen variant has the pearls on top. I love how the pearls burst on your tongue!
The new frozen teas are the latest addition to Starbucks Teavana, which was launched in Asia last year. The brand brought in four full-leaf variants you can steep yourself and three iced shaken handcrafted beverages you can order in stores. For the full-leaf variants, there’s the English Breakfast (my favorite), the Emperors Cloud & Mist green tea, the Hibiscus herbal blend, and the Youthberry white tea. For the handcrafted beverages, there’s the Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls, Iced Shaken Black Tea with Ruby Grapefruit, and the Matcha and Espresso Fusion.
Both the Chamomile Tea with Kyoho Grape and Aloe, and the Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls is exclusively available in Asia and will be available in all stores from September 12 to November 1.
