5 Bad Habits You Need To Drop Before You Turn 30

Turning 30 is scary for a lot of people. They see it as the end of their youth when they need to start getting serious about life. Many people assume that it all goes downhill when you turn 30 and you can no longer do any of the fun things that you enjoyed when you were in your twenties. The good news is, that isn’t the case at all and turning 30 isn’t the end of the world. 

However, you are getting older and you should start taking responsibility for your future and your health, which means dropping some bad habits. We all have bad habits and it’s so easy to continue with them for the rest of your life. But if you take this opportunity to change those habits sooner rather than later, you will live a much happier, healthier lifestyle.

These are some of the bad habits you need to drop before you turn 30:

Not drinking enough water

You’ve heard this one before and you might be fed up with people telling you that you need to drink more water. The thing is, people go on about it for a reason because it really does make a massive difference to your health. When you are well hydrated, you will have more energy and feel generally more positive. It also improves your skin and helps to fight the signs of aging, so if you’re concerned about getting older, you really need to stay hydrated. If you follow these simple tips, you can turn drinking water into a habit in no time, and you’ll notice a huge improvement in your overall well being. 

Smoking

This is an obvious one. If you’re a smoker, you already know that it’s damaging your health and you should quit. The thing is, the longer you keep it up, the harder it is to stop, which is why you should make a pledge to stop before you turn 30. Spending all of your money

Prioritizing other things over sleep 

When you are starting a new career and you are trying to progress, you will probably end up spending a lot of time working and things like sleep take a back seat. Sleep also isn’t a priority when you’re out with your friends having a good time. When you’re young, you can bounce back pretty quickly but as you get older, lack of sleep really starts to catch up with you. 

If you don’t get enough sleep, it will have a big impact on your physical and mental health. Your energy will be drained, you’ll be more likely to put on weight, and you will suffer from stress way more than you normally would. People that don’t get enough sleep are far more likely to develop mental health issues as a result. As you get older, it’s more important to look after your health, so it’s time to start prioritizing sleep. Put your laptop away and stop answering emails at all times of the night. If you’re out on a night out, be the boring one that heads home early, you’ll be glad you did in the morning.

Neglecting exercise

Exercise is another one of those things that people know they should do but still ignore. But even if you are in relatively good shape already, exercise is so important once you reach 30. After the age of 30, you naturally start losing muscle mass if you don’t do any exercise. This means that even people that are a healthy weight still need to do exercise to maintain their muscle mass. If you don’t, you’ll find that you have more issues with your joints as you get older and you won’t feel as healthy in general. 

That doesn’t mean that you need to start hitting the gym every day, but you should make exercise part of your normal routine. Start out slowly and do one or two workouts a week. Even if you don’t do that much, regular exercise of any kind will still improve your overall health and make you feel much better.

 

We’re all guilty of getting into bad habits when we are young, that’s what being young is all about. But as you approach 30, it’s important to start looking ahead to the future and considering whether you want to take these bad habits with you or not. These simple changes will make a huge difference to your overall quality of life.
