I’ve always had a sweet tooth, even now that I’m working out to get fit. Try as I might, I can’t get rid of my cravings for sweets so I just accepted my fate by controlling my portions and seeing it as a reward after completing a task.
For me, the best pair to a sweet treat is a cup of coffee or tea. It’s the perfect beverage to cut through the confection and frankly, it’s delicious! Last month, I was introduced to a few coffee hacks by Tim Hortons, where you can combine their coffees with any of their sandwiches or baked treats!
Before I go with the coffee hacks, I’d like to share a few things about Tim Hortons’ coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret and only four people in the world know it. What I do know is that it’s made of 100% Arabica grown in the best coffee plantations in the world. To maintain its quality, more than 75,000 cups are tasted-tested annually for consistency.
So let’s get on with the coffee hacks?
The Dark Side of Tims
This combo is made of the Red Eye Iced Capp, an iced capp with an extra shot of espresso to give you that extra energy when you need it (looking at you, students), and the Triple Chocolate Muffin, which is both sinfully delicious and pillowy soft.
Tim Hortons is a Canadian brand so it’s no surprise that they would celebrate their heritage. For this pairing, you enjoy the Original Blend Coffee with some Maple Dip donut. What can be more Canadian than that?
Nothing Beats Classic
A classic is considered timeless for a reason. Try the Double Double, a cup of coffee with two creams and two sugars, with the unique flavor of the Old Fashioned Glazed (I crave for this all the time).
Don’t Be Latte on My Birthday
I love puns and birthdays so I was drawn to this. Here, you can have an Iced Latte and a bag of Birthday Cake Timbits, or bite-sized round donuts. It’s the perfect on-the-go snack for hot days like the ones we’re strangely having this time of year?
Feeling Cheesy with My Coffee
For something more savory, try Feeling Cheesy with My Coffee! This pairing has Iced Coffee and a Grilled Cheese Panini, which spells comfort on a long day packed with meetings and such.
Red velvet lovers will love Fratte! This combination has the Red Velvet Latte (a favorite) with some Apple Fritter (another favorite). This will be my go-to pairing in the near future.
Ciabattalaga For You?
Tim Hortons’ copywriter must have had a few of The Dark Side of Tims because he or she is on a roll. For Ciabattalaga For You?, you can get Iced Coffee and a Chicken Ciabatta. He or she may not be the one for you but this combo definitely is!
