Here’s Something New to Try This 2018: Jameson Irish Whiskey’s Black Barrel

This 2018, one of my resolutions is to try more new things. Manila is so dynamic that there’s always something new to eat, experience, drink, and visit. Another is to make more time for friends and family, who I did not spend much time with last year because of work. And when you’re talking about quality time with people, it’s bound to involve alcohol.

If you’re like me who has the same two resolutions, here’s something worth trying to hit two birds with one glass, er, stone: Jameson Irish Whiskey’s Black Barrel, which was recently made available in the Philippines.

The Jameson Black Barrel is the second of its line of fine whiskeys and it sounds promising. The drink is created in charred barrels to infuse it with notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted wood, fruit, and warm spice. A popular mix for the Black Barrel is one part Jameson original with three parts Sprite or ginger ale and a dash of lime. It can be paired with most food, but the best pairing is some company, whether it’s a relaxed gathering or a wild party that’s set to be one for the books.

Jameson Irish Whiskey is known as the world’s number one Irish whiskey. Its trademark smoothness is the result of a triple distillation process that yields a mellow profile with sherry undertones. It’s perfect on its own but you can mix it in cocktails, with ginger ale, or with beer.

The Jameson Black Barrel uses the same process as the Irish Whiskey, using a triple distilled blend of rich pot still and grain whiskey matured in a mixture of sherry casks and bourbon barrels. The difference is that the Black Barrel goes through an additional charring process.

With a glass of this whiskey, you’re bound to have a great 2018!
