The holidays are coming up and you know what means: people are starting to collect stickers for Starbucks’ planners! It has become a new tradition and I’m here to tell you what to expect from the coffee chain, from its coveted planners to its handcrafted beverages, food, coffees and tea, and cards!
This year’s Starbucks planners come in two designs: the first comes in blue and green hues inspired by the calm of the season, while the second is more colorful with green, purple, and orange colors. Both are wrapped in elegant leather sleeves, with the first design enclosed in tan leather and the second design wrapped in dark brown leather. Both come with a Kape Vinta Card, which can win you a month or a year’s supply of Starbucks beverages! For more information on the contest and more photos of the planners, click here.
I’m also giving away one planner so check out the link!
Starbucks is also launching its lineup of holiday beverages. This year, the brand is introducing the Christmas Tree Peppermint Dark Mocha and the Vanilla Nougat Latte. The highly-popular Toffee Nut Crunch Latte will be back and I’m excited to drink it again!
The Christmas Tree Peppermint Dark Mocha is a Dark Mocha Frappuccino topped with green tea whipped cream, and generously drizzled with green and red candies to resemble a lit Christmas tree.
The Vanilla Nougat Latte is a decadent beverage inspired by the classic nougat. It has the rich and custard-like taste of French vanilla, mixed with nougat notes. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth!
The Toffee Nut Crunch Latte is an enduring classic. The drink is composed of toffee nut syrup mixed with velvety steamed milk, espresso shots, and topped with whipped cream and crunchy toffee nut.
If only it was possible to have 18 holiday beverage stickers!
Starbucks will also launch a new line of food items perfect for the holidays.
For savory snacks, they will have the Ham and Egg Brioche Bun, a pillowy-soft and buttery bun filled with ham and egg; the Christmas Ham, Egg White, and Edam Cheese on Croissant Bun, made up of slow-roasted Christmas ham, fully-herbed egg white omelette, and Edam cheese sandwiched between a flaky croissant bun; and the Roasted Turkey and Chicken with Bacon on Cranberry Bread, an explosive combination of slow-cooked chicken and turkey marinated in rosemary, thyme, and sage, as well as thick cranberry sauce and honey-cured bacon.
For something sweeter, there’s the Chocolate and Milk Pudding (which come in mini cups with special holiday designs), and the Rocky Road Cookie, a rich dark chocolate cookie filled with marshmallow, nuts, and chocolate chunks.
I love cake so I’m looking forward to trying the Truffle Brownie Cheesecake, a dense cheesecake filled with chocolate truffle, brownie, and chocolate chunks; and the Belgian Chocolate Strawberry Cake, a chocolate sponge cake layered with milk chocolate, strawberry cream, and chocolate frosting.
If you enjoyed last year’s holiday treats, Starbucks will be bringing back select food items: the incredibly decadent Chocolate Toffee Nut Loaf, the 17-layered Chocolate Crepe Cake (with Belgian chocolate cream filling!), and the flavorful Chicken Fajita Roll with its chicken breast fillet.
Coffee and Tea
Starbucks is also bringing back the famed Christmas Blend, a collection of coffees that evoke the holiday spirit. There’s the Starbucks Christmas Blend, which has a spicy and sweet flavor with notes of orange, nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. It comes in an Espresso Roast for bolder flavors of caramelly sweetness and a unique spiciness. If you’re on the go, you can enjoy it in VIA and Origami format, where you can prepare it in a specially-designed single-use filter.
New to the collection is the Starbucks Teavana Joyful Medley Tea, an intriguing mix of black tea, oolong tea, and jasmine green tea.
The Reserve stores also have their exclusive line of coffee. There are the cinnamon and ginger notes of the Starbucks Reserve Christmas Blend; the berries, milk, and dark chocolate notes of the Starbucks Reserve Ethiopia Bitta Farm; and the butternut cookies and toffee notes of the Starbucks Reserve Vietnam Da Lat.
For something truly unique, I recommend the Hacienda Alsacia, the first coffee harvested from Hacienda Alsacia, Starbucks’ first coffee farm located in Costa Rica. The blend has a citrus and balanced flavor, with notes of cocoa and nuts. This will be available starting December 4, 2017.
Card collectors will be pleased to hear that there are new Christmas-themed Starbucks cards! There are the Holiday Tree and Snowman cards, which show wintry scenes in beautiful shades of silver, blue, and green. Both are available for an initial activation amount of P300 per card.
There’s also the 2018 Red Cup Card, which is shaped like a cup and comes with a red Kraft sleeve carrier. This one is available for an initial activation amount of P1,000.
My favorite would have to be the Maligayang Pasko Card, a local card featuring Christmas baubles. The card is available for an initial activation amount of P300.
All cards will be available in stores beginning November 2, 2017.
