I usually watch movies and TV shows on my laptop, but for days when I want something a little more compact, and for those moments when I’m out and I have a little time on my hands, I use my iPad. Of course, I don’t always have my iPad ready, so I also use my phone to stream. I love streaming on my phone, but I found a new device to make mobile streaming more immersive: the LG G6!
The G6 is the new device of LG, and has already been lauded as the best smartphone of the Mobile World Congress in 2017. The phone features a 5.7 inch QHD+ FullVision display, and has an 18:9 screen-to-body ratio compared to the conventional 16:9 ratio. This means a larger screen and a more immersive experience, while still keeping it easy to carry.
The LG G6 is also the first smartphone to have Dolby Vision technology and High Dynamic Range (HDR) 10, which means a wider range of color, luminosity, and detail. I’m very particular with colors, symmetry, and the little details that many people tend to miss, so this is an important feature for me.
Watching content is one thing, but it’s a completely different ball game when creating. The LG G6 also delivers, with its standard and wide angle settings for both the rear and front cameras, dual 13MP rear camera (with a 125-degree lens on the wide angle), and an expanded 100-degree field of view with the wide angle 5MP front camera. It has the first-ever Square Camera Mode, which divides the screen in half for simultaneous photo-taking, editing, and uploading. Thinking of starting a movie? You can do that!
The body is a work of art, too: the LG G6 is sculpted from aluminum and glass, with a minimalist design with rounded corners, extremely narrow bezels, and a flat back, perfect for those who want to lay the phone down while watching the latest Hollywood flick.
It doesn’t just look good on the outside. The device is also durable, as it passed 14 different military-standard 810G tests involving rain, fog, humidity, and temperature. It’s dust-resistant, and can be immersed up to 1.5 meters of water for as long as 30 minutes. Users don’t have to worry about dropping it or using it in rough environments. Best of all, the LG G6 is designed with a metal frame and heat pipe to avoid overheating. Yes, that means you can binge-watch your favorite Netflix show!
Of course, phones aren’t designed just for watching movies and TV shows. We want our devices to play multiple roles, and we want to use them for both work and play. The LG G6 has a built-in Google Assistant that works hand-in-hand with apps, which lets you manage everyday tasks, enjoy music, and basically live efficiently. The more you use Google Assistant, the more personalized the service becomes.
With the G6’s wide screen and impressive visual capabilities, I’ll be able to catch up on my favorite movies and TV shows. I still haven’t finished 13 Reasons Why, and I already have Big Little Lies and the complete The Twilight Zone on my lineup!
