Everything You Need to Know About the Starbucks Holiday Collection

One of the most-awaited times of the year is the start of Starbucks’s Christmas collection, especially the planners. Collectors patiently gather all the stickers required to have one, while others wait for the holiday beverages, food, cards, and merchandise.

I love all of these things, but what I love about the holiday season is how festive their stores are. I always believe that Starbucks is selling an experience, one you can feel the moment you step in the store, and this heightens during the Christmas season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Starbucks holiday beverages, food, cards, planners, and other merchandise:

Starbucks 2017 Planner

starbucks-philippines-2017-planner

The Starbucks 2017 planner is worlds away from their minimalist collection last year, which was a partnership with luxury brand Moleskine. This year, Starbucks is going a more colorful route with the mermaid design and the coffee stain design. It features the same weekly format which I love, and has a blank space next to each page so I can have a daily and weekly bullet journal. I wrote extensively about it here, and I’m giving one away tomorrow!

To avail of the planner, you have to collect 18 stickers, or the equivalent of 18 beverages (nine core handcrafted beverages and nine holiday featured beverages). Stickers can be obtained from November 2, 2016 to January 8, 2017, and the redemption of planners will only be up to March 9, 2017. If you’re too excited to collect, you can get one planner by a single receipt bulk purchase worth at least P7,000.

Starbucks Holiday Beverages

A Cozy Christmas

Every year, Starbucks releases its holiday beverages, and we’re going to see the return of two favorites, as well as the arrival of a new one. The Peppermint Mocha and the Toffee Nut Latte are returning (the toffee nut has always been a favorite), and the new one is called the Santa Hat Dark Mocha. It’s a dark mocha beverage topped with a base of strawberry whipped cream, strawberry drizzle, and a playful dot of white whipped cream to make it look like a santa hat. I like its deep flavor, and I think I’ll be ordering this more than the other two.

For those who have not tried the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha and the Toffee Nut Latte, the Peppermint Mocha is an espresso and steamed milk drink with chocolate and peppermint flavors, and topped with whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and candy cane, while the Toffee Nut Latte is steamed milk, espresso, and toffee nut syrup topped with whipped cream and toffee nut sprinkles. Yum!

The Santa Hat Dark Mocha comes in Tall (P170), Grande (P185), and Venti (P200), while the Peppermint Mocha and the Toffee Nut Latte comes in Short (P160), Tall (P170), Grande (P185), and Venti (P200).

Starbucks Holiday Coffee

The Starbucks Christmas Blend is also returning for the holiday season. Starbucks has been roasting the Christmas Blend for the holidays every year since 1984, and the method hasn’t changed: The coffee chain ages the rare Sumatra beans for up to five years to create a deep, earthy, and cedary flavor. It’s mixed with coffee beans from Asia-Pacific and Latin America for a sweet cup. I didn’t even need sugar when I tried it!

The Starbucks Christmas Blend comes in whole beans (P445), a convenient single-use filter called Origami (P295), and the VIA (P395 for 12 sticks), so you can drink it anywhere.

Espresso lovers can also enjoy the Starbucks Christmas Blend Espresso Roast (P445) for a deeper and more intense flavor.

Starbucks Holiday Food

For 2016, Starbucks is bringing favorites and new items for their food lineup.

For the returning favorites, I’m excited to once again avail of the chocolate toffee nut loaf (P65/slice, P585/whole), which is a sinfully delicious chocolate loaf topped with chocolate and toffee. The loaf doubles as a weapon because of its heft. I’m also glad for the return of the chocolate crepe cake (P140/slice, P1,250/whole), a masterpiece of Belgian chocolate cream between 17 layers. For savory snacks, I love the chicken fajita roll (P100), a chicken breast fillet tortilla that has a nice kick.

For its new savory items, I got to try the croque monsieur on croissant baguette (P170), a butter croissant baguette with slow-roasted honey ham, Fontina and Emmental cheese, and bechamel sauce and grated cheese. It has a distinct mustard taste that I like. The chicken and turkey with cranberry sauce on croissant baguette (P170) is an interesting combination of chicken and turkey marinated in Christmas spices, cranberry sauce, and sweet and salty apple stuffing.

For sweets, I love the single origin chocolate cake made with Venezuelan cacao beans (P150/slice, P1,350 whole) and the chocolate cruffin (P85), which has a generous amount of light chocolate cream inside. The chocolate fudge cheesecake (P140/slice, P1,550 whole) is rich and delicious, but hard to eat with braces. The cranberry bliss bar (P75), a sweet cream cheese icing with dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, and white chocolates is a unique treat.

I always carry a tumblr or a bottle of water with me, and the Starbucks tumblers are some of the most stylish I’ve had. I go through tumblers every few months, but my staples are the limited-edition ones. For Christmas, they’re launching a new collection of really cute designs featuring the new Starbucks Christmas animals: the penguin, the polar bear, and the fox. I literally squealed when I saw the polar bear designs.

If you’re a fan of stuffed bears, they have the male and female bearista bears.

I got to see and try all these products at their store, but I’m looking forward to enjoying them in the weeks to come. I hope you enjoy them, too, and happy holidays!
