Since I started hanging out with my mom and her friends, I started to appreciate wine. I liked the mellow buzz it gave me, as well as the nuances of each variety. I like white for its light flavor, rose for its refreshing burst, and red for its deep full-bodied intimacy. So when Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila invited WheninManila.com to be the only online attendee for its Wine Days, I was excited to go.
Wine Days is held every September across all Sofitel properties to celebrate the wine harvest. I went two years ago where I learned the proper way of drinking wine: swirl the glass to open up the wine, dip your nose to take in the aroma, sip, let it swirl in your mouth, then slightly part your lips to suck in air to heighten your sense of taste.
Two years ago, we went on a tour around Spiral, partaking of different wines paired with foie gras and cheese, capped off with a sinful Spiral buffet. This year was an intimate five-course dinner at Le Bar hosted by Nicolas Feuillatte, one of France’s most prestigious winemakers. We also drank the last two bottles of a limited-edition Champagne. Exciting!
